Brussels, 22/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 22 June, the European Commission authorised a six month prolongation of a German guarantee scheme for credit institutions. The Commission found the prolongation of the measures, initially approved on 12 December 2008 (EUROPE 9804). A six month prolongation of a Slovenian guarantee scheme for credit institutions was also granted to stabilise the financial markets and guarantee their access to loans (EUROPE 9803). In both cases, the Commission concluded that these schemes represented an appropriate means of remedying a serious disturbance in the German and Slovenian economies. (O.L./trans/rh)
