EP civil liberties committee approves “asylum package”

Brussels, 28/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 27 April, the European Parliament civil liberties committee adopted four proposals to improve how the European asylum system works and enhance asylum seekers' rights. The report by Antonio Masip Hidalgo (PES, Spain), adopted by 33 votes to one, with one abstention, seeks to improve minimum standards for receiving asylum seekers.
