Increase in public development aid in 2008 is good news but Commission warns that now is not the time to let things slip

Brussels, 31/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - After an historic fall in 2007, EU public development aid (PDA) increased by 8% in 2008 to reach more than €49bn (as opposed to €46.1bn in 2007) according to temporary official figures published on Monday 30 March by the OECD development aid committee. The trend is also upwards for ODA flows from all OECD countries, which reached a record $119.8bn (€84bn).
