19/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission announced on Thursday 19 March its decision to allocate €3 million in emergency humanitarian aid to help civilian populations to the north of Sri Lanka, victims of fighting between the government forces and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The aid, which will go to about 200,000 persons, will be administered by the International Red Cross and the Red Crescent. (A.N./transl.jl)
