Brussels, 16/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - European biodiesel producers, through the European Biodiesel Board (EBB), have welcomed the publication in the Official Journal of the EU of 12 March of the two Commission regulations establishing, provisionally, for the moment, countervailing and anti-dumping duties on imports of American B99 biodiesel (see EUROPE 9854). “This decision represents no less than a decisive move for the European biodiesel industry, as it will re-establish the level playing field that our producers have long hoped for,” EBB says in a press release. It believes, however, that it is essential that European authorities consider effective ways to stop “already reported” circumvention practices whereby US biodiesel, by being shipped to other countries before being exported to the EU, can by-pass EU anti-subsidy and anti-dumping duties.
