Environment committee calls for tough rules to stop illegally felled wood entering EU

Brussels, 18/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 17 February, the European Parliament's environment committee chaired by Miroslav Ouzky (EPP-ED, Czech Republic) made a decision in a first reading to toughen the rules proposed by the Commission to fight deforestation in the world and prevent illegally felled wood being sold on the European market (EUROPE 9764).
