Standing Committee fails to approve or reject lifting of French and Greek measures banning cultivation of MON 810 maize - now it is up to Council

Brussels, 16/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - The Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health, meeting in Brussels on 16 February, failed to reach a decision for or against lifting safeguard measures imposed by France and Greece, provisionally banning the cultivation of the genetically modified MON 810 maize developed by US agri-food giant Monsanto and authorised in the EU.
