€20 million in support of Libya to fight against illegal immigration

Brussels, 12/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European commissioner for external relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, made a visit to Libya where she chaired the opening session of the Euro-Libyan negotiations for a cooperation agreement. At the session, she announced the granting of €20 million to support the fight against illegal immigration and informed the press that “today, I have given the Libyan government aid for strengthening border controls”.
