French authorities say aid for motor industry would not be protectionist

Brussels, 05/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - French Industry Minister Luc Chatel has denied that French aid envisaged for the motor industry is a protectionist measure. Chatel was in Brussels on Wednesday 4 February to discuss arrangements for the aid with the competition commissioner. The latter expressed concern about the possible conditions imposed on aid recipients, including the obligation to buy from French suppliers.
