05/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - On 5 February, the Commission confirmed it had sent a letter of objections to the suppliers of pre-stressing steel. These suppliers are suspected of having taken part in a cartel on the market for this product, essentially used in the construction sector. The products in question include steel cables and bars for reinforcing concrete, placed under tension to improve structural strength and quality. (C.D./transl.jl)
