Brussels, 04/02/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 4 and Friday 5 February, the European Commission is organising the second European university-enterprise forum. This event will bring together senior representatives from the business community, higher education and politics to exchange information on different practices, develop ties and examine new forms of cooperation between higher teaching establishments and enterprise. A partnership between the two parties stimulates the reciprocal transfer of knowledge, creates opportunities and helps prepare students for future employment, explained the Commission. Subjects on the agenda include modernisation of structures of governance at universities, study programme development, particularly from within a spirit of enterprise, and improved in-house training. The first university-enterprise forum took place in February 2008 and was followed up with a series of thematic forums. (I.L./transl.rh)
