23/01/2009 (Agence Europe) - During the final Cib-vitas II conference in Toulouse on Wednesday 21 January, the European transport commissioner, Antonio Tajani, announced several initiatives scheduled for spring 2009 in the field of urban mobility. In March, the European Commission is expected to grant funding for new pilot projects aimed at promoting certain priorities of the future action plan for urban mobility (bicycles, walking, freight transport or public transport in towns, green zones). The total budget will amount to €5 million and Commission co-funding will amount to 50% of the cost of the project. In April, the Commission plans to launch a call for tenders for online provision of all information available on the European legislation and the financing of urban mobility. (A.By./transl.jl)
