European Parliament completes examination of directive on intra-Community transfers of defence products

Brussels, 17/12/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 16 December, the European Parliament approved (545 votes in favour, 66 against, with 44 abstentions) the report by Heide Rühle (Greens, Germany) and the amendments negotiated with the Council on the draft directive's wording on intra-Community defence product transfers. This first reading agreement will enable the Council to make a definitive decision on the text of this directive at the next meeting.
