Ireland's pledge to buy emission rights will boost Bank investment in sustainable energy in Poland

Brussels, 15/12/2008 (Agence Europe) - Under a Green Investment Scheme (GIS) developed between Ireland, Poland and the Multilateral Carbon Credit Fund (MCCF), a joint European Investment Bank (EIB) and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) initiative. Under this scheme, the revenue from the sale of Assigned Amount Units (AAUs) could be used to finance sustainable energy projects financed by the EIB and EBRD, mostly in small and medium sized Polish enterprises.
