05/12/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 4 December 2008, the European Commission authorised the planned buy-up of Gamesa Energia's windfarm arm by Iberdrola Renovables (both are Spanish companies). Gamesa Energia is active in promoting and developing wind parks for sale to third parties. Iberdrola Renovables is the renewable energy subsidiarity of Spanish energy company Iberdrola. The Commission's investigation did not detect any serious overlap in the companies' business activities. Gamesa does not really generate any electricity itself because it sells its windfarm products as soon as they come on stream.
