19/11/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 18 November, the Council of European Fisheries Ministers took note of the oral report by the European Commission on the result of actions undertaken to simplify and improve the CFP (Common Fisheries Policy). The Commission noted to priority sectors in which simplification is required: - the conservation policy (quotas, fishing effort, protection of young stocks in marine bodies, collecting and managing data); - controls on fishing activities (awareness-raising, reporting duties, fishing authorisations). The action plan will expire in December 2008. The Commission will present the final report during the six months of the Czech Presidency, in April 2009. (L.C./trans.fl)
