Inspections carried out at major cement companies

Brussels, 05/11/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 4 November, the European Commission confirmed that it had carried out unannounced inspections at the premises of several major international cement companies such as Lafarge (France), Cemex (Mexico), Holcim (Switzerland) and HeidelbergCement (Germany). The Commission has reason to believe that the companies concerned may have violated EC Treaty antitrust rules that prohibit cartels and restrictive business practices and/or abuse of a dominant...
