01/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - Speaking at the third inter-parliamentary conference on road safety in Europe, on Monday 29 September, European Commissioner for Transport Antonio Tajani announced the launch of a new road safety action programme in Europe for 2011-20. A concrete proposal from the European Commission is expected next year after a public consultation process is launched beforehand. With the second road safety day coming up in Paris on 13 October, Mr Tajani examined all the action led at an EU level since adoption in 2001 of the ambitious objective of reducing by half, the number of road accident victims. The theme of this second road safety day will focus on accidents in town. (A.By/transl.rh)
