EU monitoring mission ready for deployment

Brussels, 30/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - EU High Representative for the CFSP Javier Solana travelled to Tbilisi on Tuesday 30 September for talks with President Mikheil Saakashvili, members of government and the opposition, and civil society. He also visited the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) which comprises 300 unarmed observers from 22 member states and which will be ready for work from Wednesday 1 October.
