25/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - The report “Green Jobs: Towards Decent Work in a Sustainable, Low-Carbon World”, published in New York on 24 September under the aegis of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), was warmly welcomed by Guy Ryder, Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). He says the report demonstrates great possibilities for the creation of new jobs in eco goods and services, while drawing attention to the fact that governments have to take fuller account of the social effects on those whose livings have been compromised by the shift to a low-carbon world economy.
