Brussels, 22/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 19 September, the European Commission cleared the proposed acquisition of Siemens Enterprise Communications business (SEN), a German producer of communication products, by the Gores Group of the US. Gores is a private equity investor focused on acquiring controlling interests in mature and growing businesses, primarily in the technology, telecommunications, business services and industrial sectors in the US and Western Europe. The Commission's investigation found that the parties' post-merger market positions in all these markets would not allow them to raise prices or close off supplies. The Commission therefore concluded that the proposed transaction would not give rise to any competition concerns. (L.C./transl.rh)
