05/08/2008 (Agence Europe) - After the death of a Dutch national on 11 July 2008 who had contracted Marburg fever haemorrhagic while travelling in Uganda, surveillance measures have been introduced by the Dutch health authorities for a hundred or so people who came into contact with the victim from 2 to 5 July 2008. Nobody is presenting the slightest symptom of the disease at the moment, commented the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), which recommends that travellers avoid caves where the chiropterans (bat-like creatures) that transmit Marburg fever live.
