31/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - Following the success of the “Juvenes Translatores” competitions, the second of which was held in May 2008 (see EUROPE 9660), the European Commission has decided to hold a further competition in November of this year. It will be aimed at those born in 1991. Schools in Europe will be able to register their students for the competition between 1 September and 20 October 2008. Thereafter, a draw will be made to determine which schools will take part. Students will have to translate original texts prepared by Commission translators. Participants will be able to choose the source language and the target language of their translation from among the European Union's 23 official languages. The 27 prize winners will be invited to an awards ceremony in Brussels, which will be attended by Leonard Orban, European Commissioner with responsibility for multilingualism.
