A new referendum in Ireland in autumn of 2009? Appointment of new European Commission might be slightly delayed

Brussels, 30/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - More and more unofficial indicators seem to suggest that it will not be possible to solve the problem of the Lisbon Treaty, which has been blocked since the Irish no vote on 12 June 2008, before the elections to the European Parliament in June 2009. Last weekend, Luxembourg's prime minister Jean-Claude Juncker said that it was not very realistic for the new treaty to be in application by the European elections (see Europe 9713).
