03/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - Most European citizens think that more justice and home affairs decisions should be taken at EU level, revealed a Eurobarometer poll of around 27,000 people published on Wednesday 2 July 2008. The EU should have greater powers to combat organised crime and trafficking (81%), counter terror (81%), exchange police and justice information (76%), tackle drug abuse (75%), protect children's fundamental rights (72%), monitor the EU's external borders (72%) and over asylum and immigration policy (63%). These figures show a slight drop on last year. The first two of the above-mentioned areas are considered to be the most important for the EU.
