Brussels, 18/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 17 June, in Washington, Bulgaria signed a bilateral memorandum of understanding on security measures with the United States with a view to making the new EU member state eligible for the American Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Among other things, the agreement concerns a better sharing of information on potential terrorists, the acquisition of information on stolen or lost passports, and the presence of air marshals on flights to the United States. Bulgaria is among the 12 EU nations that do not yet belong to the VWP set in place by the United Sates. (B.C./transl.jl)
