Ms Isler BEguin condemns abuse of Mauritanian by French police

Brussels, 01/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - Marie Anne Isler Béguin MEP (Greens/EFA, France) has strongly criticised the ill-treatment meted out to a Mauritanian lawyer detained for complaining about the ill treatment of a Mauritanian who was being deported. The solicitor, Fatimata M'Baye (a member of the National Mauritanian Human Rights Commission), was detained for 24 hours and subject to degrading treatment by the French police because she protested against the handcuffing of a young...
