Brussels, 26/03/2008 (Agence Europe) - The current interior minister of Italy, Giuliano Amato, is said to be well-placed to succeed Franco Frattini as European commissioner for justice, security and freedom. Mr Frattini will be on leave until 15 April to take part in the campaigning of his party, Forza Italia, during the early legislative elections in Italy to be held on 13 and 14 April (EUROPE 9618).
