Brussels, 26/03/2008 (Agence Europe) - The High-Level Advisory Group on the Future of European Home Affairs Policy - the “Future Group” - will meet on 31 March and 1 April in Brdo pri Kranju, in Slovenia. This group, set up to draft recommendations on future European home affairs policy after 2010, consists of the home affairs ministers of the current trio presidency (Germany, Portugal and Slovenia) and the upcoming trio presidency (France, the Czech Republic and Sweden), one minister from the subsequent trio presidency from early 2010 to June 2011 (Spain) and a United Kingdom representative. Austrian Home Affairs Minister Günther Platter will also attend, as guest of honour. The topics for discussion at this meeting are the future asylum policy at EU level, integration and future police cooperation. These discussions will form the basis of a report to the European Commission, so that it can produce a draft five-year programme for home affairs. The group's final report will then be presented at the informal home affairs ministers' meeting during the French Presidency. (B.C.)
