Brussels, 17/03/2008 (Agence Europe) - A 110-member strong EU mission, led by Dutch MEP Jan Mulder (ALDE), will be deployed to observe the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in Nepal on 10 April 2008. A part of the mission will begin work in Kathmandu on Tuesday 18 March. In addition to a core team of 10 experts, the EU team will consist of 40 long-term and more than 60 short-term observers. The mission will remain in Nepal for a period of 10 weeks in total. Once elected, the Constituent Assembly will draft a new constitution and so determine Nepal's future form of government. The elections, initially planned for June 2007, were delayed because of civil and political unrest in the country at the start of last year.
