Brussels, 17/03/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) has been awarded the prize for best project 2007 in five categories of operations by the Euromoney group's Project Finance Magazine. The prizes, which acknowledge innovation and excellence in the funding of projects, were presented to the EIB in London on 6 March.
For the second consecutive year, Euromoney recognised the EIB's financing both within and outside the EU. The projects concerned cover various sectors connected to infrastructure and industry, in particular energy, transport, water and mining. They are: - the dam and hydroelectric power station in Bujagali (Uganda), named African Power Deal of the Year; - the nickel extraction project in Ambatovy (Madagascar), named African Mining Deal of the Year; - the desalination plant at Hadera (Israel); - the Millau viaduct, named European Transport (refinancing) Deal of the Year; - the Ostregion/A5 motorway (Austria), named European Transport (roads) Deal of the Year.
