Private gambling operators support Commission in legal battle against public monopolies

Brussels, 03/03/2008 (Agence Europe) - Private online gambling operators have welcomed the European Commission's decision to open infringement proceedings against Greece and the Netherlands by sending them a reasoned opinion, thereby challenging the national gambling bodies in these two member states (see EUROPE 9612). The decision sends “a strong signal across Europe that protectionism in the gambling sector will not be tolerated,” said Clive Hawkswood of the Remote Gambling Association...
