Parliament condemns assassination attempts on President and Prime Minister of Timor-Leste

Strasbourg, 22/02/2008 (Agence Europe) - In a joint resolution by the EPP-ED, PES, ALDE, UEN and Greens groups, which was adopted in Strasbourg on 21 February, the European Parliament has strongly condemned an assassination attempt on the president of Timor-Leste, Ramos Horta, and an attack carried out at the same time against Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão, and voiced its concern at the “serious threats” represented by this coup d'état for the stability of Timor-Leste.
