15/02/2008 (Agence Europe) - During the fourth quarter 2007, the GDP of the eurozone increased by 0.4% and that of the EU27 by 0.5% compared to the previous quarter, when it had progressed 0.8% in both areas, according to Eurostat estimates published on Thursday 14 February. Compared to the same period in 2006, growth was 2.3% in the eurozone and 2.6% in the EU27, compared to 2.7% and 3.0% respectively during the previous quarter. Over the whole of 2007, GDP in the eurozone increased 2.7% and that in the EU27 2.9%. During the fourth quarter 2007, GDP of the United States increased 0.2% compared to the previous quarter after +1.2% in the third quarter. In Japan, GDP increased 0.9% in the fourth quarter, after +0.3% in the third quarter. (A.B.)
