Commission to enter visa waiver talks with FYROM

Brussels, 05/02/2008 (Agence Europe) - EU Justice, Freedom and Security Commissioner Franco Frattini will soon be entering talks with the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) on a visa waiver system. The talks will provide the Macedonian authorities with clear information about the measures they will have to introduce to enable all Macedonians to be able to travel in the EU without a visa. European sources suggest the talks will be launched in February 2008 when Commissioner Frattini visits Skopje. Since 1 January 2008, Macedonians have benefitted from a visa facilitation system agreed with the EU for various categories of visitors - students, journalists, business people, etc. (B.C.)
