Brussels, 25/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 24 January, the European Court of Justice ruled that Turkish au-pairs and students (allowed to work up to 20 hours a week) have to be counted as 'workers' in the 'regular labour market'. According to the Court ruling, Turkish au-pairs and students are therefore authorised under the EEC-Turkey Association Agreement to renew their residence permit for a further year rather than requesting a new one (Case C-294/06).
