European Fisheries Fund implemented in three countries

Brussels, 22/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 18 January, the European Commission announced its approval of three new Operational Programmes (OPs) for implementation of the European Fisheries Fund (EFF), for the period 2007-2013.

Austria: The programme for the Austrian fisheries sector relates to fishing in inland waters (lakes) and aquaculture. Total eligible public expenditure amounts to €10.4 million over the period 2007-2013. EU assistance through the EFF amounts to €5.2 million.

Bulgaria: Total eligible public expenditure amounts to €106.6 million, of which €80 million comes from the EU budget (EFF). The large part of the funding, i.e. €36 million from EU funds, is earmarked for intervention axis 2 (aquaculture and inland fisheries).

The Netherlands: The Dutch Operational Programme has total public expenditure amounting to €91.8 million. The EFF contributes up to €48.5 million, mainly for adjustments to the fleet (€16.9 million of EFF) and measures of common interest (€16.9 million from the EU budget). (L.C.)
