Elmar Brok lambasts American interference in debate on Turkey - “Washington has not understood European project”

Brussels, 10/01/2008 (Agence Europe) - German MEP and EPP-ED group coordinator on foreign policy issues, Elmar Brok (CDU) has sharply refuted the comments of American President George W. Bush, who, on 8 January, repeated his support for the accession of Turkey to the EU (see EUROPE 9576). “US President Bush should refrain from getting involved in discussions on EU enlargement,” Brok said in a press release.
