11/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - In a letter inviting his counterparts to the European Summit on 14 December 2007, Portuguese prime minister José Socrates explains how the Summit will be organised. The European Council will start at 10: 00 hrs with a meeting between the social partners (trade unions and employers) to discuss the challenges facing the European labour market. This will be followed by an exchange of views with the President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert-Pöttering. The first working meeting of heads of state and government will start at around 13: 00 hrs to finalise the conclusions document prepared by EU foreign ministers, including the reflection group's mandate and a statement on globalisation. Kosovo and Iran will be discussed over dinner with EU foreign ministers and the EU High Representative for CFSP, Javier Solana. The Summit will finish after a second working meeting which will start at 15: 00 hrs. (A.B.)
