06/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 4 December, the Ecofin Council adopted its half-yearly report on implementation of the code of conduct on corporate taxation. This code of conduct aims to eliminate the adverse situation of tax competition in the EU where tax treatment in one member state would abnormally attract companies from one member state to another. Welcoming the progress made under Portuguese EU presidency concerning the freeze placed on some measures, the Council calls on the group of experts from the Council responsible for monitoring implementation of the code to find solutions, as a matter of urgency, to all stakes linked to its future work programme.
