06/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 6 December 2007, the Commission granted clearance to the acquisition of joint control of Sintonia SA of Italy by the US investor Goldman Sachs and Sintonia SpA of Italy. This latter, part of the Benetton group, is Benetton's holding company for their interests in the infrastructure sector. The Commission also approved a separate proposed acquisition: the purchase of Global Garden Products B, S.à.r.l. of Luxembourg by the UK investment fund manager 3i Group. Global Gardens Products, as the name suggests, manufactures and sells a variety of powered garden tools and equipment. Both operations were examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
