Avian flu H5N1 virus reaches Romania

Brussels, 28/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - Romania informed the European Commission on Wednesday 28 November of the discovery of a case of the highly pathogenic H5N1 avian flu virus on a poultry farm in the Danube delta (Tulcea province).

The Romanian authorities rapidly applied the measures envisaged in the Avian Influenza Directive: a cull of the birds on the farm and the implementation of a 3 km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone around the contaminated farm. This news comes several...
