27/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - As a result of the formation of a new government in Poland, Krzysztof Holowczyc and Urszula Gacek are preparing to join the European Parliament. Holowczyc is a rally driver who has won several rallies in Poland and Europe. He will be replacing Barbara Kudrycka (EPP-ED), who became Poland's new science and higher education minister on 16 November in the government of Liberal Donald Tusk. Announcing last week that he would be taking over from Kudrycka, Holowczyc said he would be focussing his work on road safety and joining the EP's transport and tourism committee. Urszula Gacek, a Civic Platform (PO) senator, will be replacing Bogdan Klich in the EPP-ED group, who has become Poland's defence minister. Gacek said that as an MEP she would be focussing her work on energy security and the problem of new immigration, particularly economic immigration. (A.BY.)
