Brussels, 24/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - On the evening of Tuesday 23 October in Rome, Javier Solana and Saïd Jalili held “constructive” discussions on the Iranian nuclear dossier, according to the high representative of the EU CFSP. “Our basic principle remains negotiation, cooperation and dialogue”, said the new Iranian negotiator-in-chief, who was accompanied by his predecessor, Ali Larijani. “Iran has a position of principal, but we can always negotiate whilst sticking to our principles and arrive at conclusions which are acceptable to both sides”, added Mr Jalili. “I hope to continue to work with Mr Larijani”, commented Mr Solana. The three men will meet again for further discussions before the end of November, when Mr Solana is to present a report to the members of the UN Security Council and Germany. (A.B.)
