24/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 18 October, the European Investment Bank (EIB) granted a loan of €160 million to Poland for the construction of 15.8 km. of the western section of the DTS Expressway connection between the cities of Katowice and Gliwice. The new highway section will pass through Chorzow, Swietochlowice, Ruda Œl¹ska and Zabrze. In the future, the expressway is expected to be connected to the A4 motorway (the Polish section of the E40 motorway which links France and the border between Kazakhstan and China). The EIB has already financed the construction of the first phase of the expressway, the 12.3 km. of the eastern part of the road, which was opened in December 2006.
