Brussels, 13/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 13 September, the European Biomass Association (AEBIOM) presented the press in Brussels with a first statistical report on biomass and its contribution as an energy source to the EU's energy system. On Wednesday, Commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs met AEBIOM President Heinz Kopetz and congratulated him on his contribution made to the preparation of the draft framework directive (expected at the end of the year) on promoting renewable energies. The goal is to make the EU's energy cluster consist of 20% renewables by 2020.
