13/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - At the Portuguese presidency conference on “Flexicurity” in Lisbon (see EUROPE 9500), European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) General Secretary John Monks called on Council, Commission and European social partners to structure the debate on this subject around a timetable to include: - a directive on temporary agency work; - the right to request flexible working hours and a weekly maximum number of hours; - the right to request a full-time job for the millions of involuntary part-time workers; - assurance that labour law covers and protects all workers who find themselves in a relationship of subordination; - and full implementation at national level of the existing rules laid down by European social directives and framework agreements.
