Brussels, 31/08/2007 (Agence Europe) - Olivier Jehin has been appointed the new Editor-in-Chief of Agence Europe, to take effect as of Saturday 1 September 2007. It was the personal decision of Helmut Brül, whom he succeeds, to give up the position in order to fully devote himself to the work of reporting in several essential sectors of European activity already under his responsibility: enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, relations with the United States and Russia, and institutional affairs (especially the new treaty currently being negotiated). Given the major developments expected in these fields, Mr Brüls felt he could not also assume the responsibility of editor-in-chief. The current editor respects Mr Brül's decision and expresses thanks and appreciation for everything he has already done and will continue to do for the Agency.
Olivier Jehin is Helmut Brül's natural successor. He has been part of the Agence Europe team for ten years now, holding the post of assistant editor. He will be seconded by two assistant editors - Albin Birger, who will also remain responsible for reporting on economic and financial affairs, and Lionel Changeur, responsible for agriculture and fisheries. In a concern to constantly improve our daily bulletin, with the interest of readers at heart, partial changes have been made to the fields assigned to our journalists. (FR)
