Brussels, 24/08/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 21 August 2007, the European Commission granted clearance to two acquisitions, namely acquisition of sole control of Stork N.V. of the Netherlands (Stork Aerospace, Stork Food Systems, Stork Technical Services and Stork Prints) by Candover Investments plc of the UK; and acquisition of sole control AK&N UK Ltd of the UK, which manufactures and markets thermoplastic compound materials, by Sumitomo Chemical Company of Japan, Itochu Corporation of Japan and Toyo Ink Mfg. of Japan. Sumitomo is active in the production of chemicals. Itochu is a general trading company and Toyo is active in the printing inks and equipment, chemicals and resins industries. Both deals were examined under the simplified merger review procedure. (cd)
