02/08/2007 (Agence Europe) - “Several speakers have acknowledged that the flexibility shown by those taking part in the six-party negotiations, should serve as an example for the resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday 2 August, after the ASEAN regional forum on security (ARF) in Manila, Ria Novosty has reported. According to Mr Lavrov, there was also support for the initiatives proposed by another “group of six”: the group of countries in contact with Iran over its nuclear programme. These initiatives were put forward by EU High Representative Javier Solana, who was also taking part in the ARF. Mr Solana confirmed his intention to maintain contact with Iran with a view to getting it to respond to all the questions posed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and to get it to cooperate fully with the Agency.
